• The builders

Who built HOUSE ONE ? The builders are left in the shadow whilst the beast grows. Entering  the site is like penetrating an immense anthill where the individuals fades away to form a team. We feel the effervescence, the humming of the drills, the clinking of the hammer, the creaking of the wood.

It isn’t a simple edifice but a learning curve of what is involved when a line becomes matter. Touching, cuting, drilling wood enables us to cognite and tame it.

House one is the result of  the hard work of 250 students that we for once put under the spot light.

The last day of this construction phase commenced with the removal of the scaffoldings by

professionals around the proto-structure, as two studios from the north side awaited to

    complete their final touches.

Meanwhile, plunging our camera deep into House I, aliceblogs took a tour to discover the

secret language of this creature. All works possess similiar tenderness and rationality that

posit us in a visual loop of poetry.

The two individual projects were finished before sunset, but it doesn't significate

the House One project has come to its end. This summer, it will be growing again

    with the workshop in Versailles.

    Keep following.

As other studios are taking their first steps on the chantier

the house continues to grow form the inside,

and we cannot wait for it to be complete,

so that we can finally experience what we have

been working on during the entire semester!

We begin working quite early every morning, so

that we work actively! The chantier is like a

giant anthill, where everyone has its importance!

Critics will take place in two weeks, as the end of the year is arriving a little faster than expected.
Today some more studios began to build their project, thus bringing new energy and motivation to
everyone. Next week is the charrette, during which everyone will take care of the last details.

This week the work have gone though small intermissions. Indeed the site of EPFL was hosting the electro festival Balélec. The two construction sites were interweaving and so the site needed to be free for the weekend. However the prefabrication in studios was intensively active.

This Monday is a non-working day in Switzerland. On the Wit Monday access to the working site is strictly forbidden which let us only this Tuesday to build on the worksite. Thus, only two weeks are left before House One will officially be completed. Hence this special beginning of the week announce a loaded end of project. The first stage is almost done but two still have to be built.
