How architecture can make student's life easier? Two programs we were keen on studying linked to each other allow us to answer this question: the tea house and the climbing wall. They are used for physical activities and mental relaxation.

Each of these program influence the other one and creates a relation between the inside and outside. The tea house originally used for the matcha tea ceremony can now offer a proper space for relaxation but decision taking as well. The tiny entrances are built inside the climbing wall itself.

The traditional alcove of the tea house which is slightly raised becomes now a mezzanine only accessible using the climbing wall. The climbing wall's plugs are used for the ascension but allow us to filter the light coming through them. they are now windows. the light is used for the tea seeds growing on the mezzanine.

By studying those complementary programs we've create a new space.

    Par Amelie, Simon, 15/03/16

This week planning was mainly to finish our studies and become expert about japanese tea house and climbing.

In order to define where the grips are going to be on our climbing wall we made a study about Green tea plantation in order to know when it grows so we can planify light during this periode.

Moreover we finished the final shape of the climbing wall using iterative schemas.

After a week of brain storming the idea of combining a climbing wall and a traditional japanese Tea House came out while we were looking for a  activities beneficial for students (as the Rooms and the protostructure will be located on a campus).

Physical activities and brain storming, both are keys activities to our program, and the first step was to study their use throught drawings.

The idea of working with geometrical grid found out of the Prototructure came at the very first step of the Room project. We wanted a modular space responding to geometrical rules given by the grid. We designed panes composed of two others panes which are composed of two more either. The main aim was to create a pane where everything could move and respond to a very particular user.
