• ROOM-Process

    Par Allae, 24/03/16

We've replaced some elements of our room and we have now a system of cadrage on the second floor which consists to a simple horizontal ladder which creates a interaction between this space and below. This ladder is still use as a passage to the balcony.

The main question this week was: How can we use and build a furniture item which includes ladders in a way to continue to give a new function of ladders?

With ladders, we gain space which permits us to use the verticality as an advantage for an item that we can use in several ways.

Ladder uses as confrontation between interior and exterior, and the steps are inclined for some privacy.

    Par Allae, 24/03/16

Room, a part of the Inside of a building that is divided from other areas by walls and a door ant that has its own floor and ceiling

How can we divise our part with only one element?

We've chosen the ladder and we have decided to place it in middle.

We wondered, is there a difference when we're in the proto-structure and when we're not?

The visitor, at the beginning, 'll see the ladder like windows ( spacement between steps) due to the fact that he'll be behind it.

Axonometry of the project plugged in the proto-structure.                                    Constructive detail.

The iteration of the constructive system connects the module to the proto-structure. All the modules are connected, therefore they are all needed for the stability of the Room.

    Interior/exterior relation.

The purpose of the interior/exterior relation is not about creating some king of riddle, but about showing the importance of the system: it's what we want to build, but also what allows the construction. It's a kind of scaffolding who's part of the whole construction.

A centrally placed observation area similar to the program of a panopticon for a specific kind of surveillance developed based on the various programs of each group within the same studio. Complete deconstruction of the protostructure to render the vision a primary and singular element.

Basing our work on the previously defined groups, we decided to achieve a certain centrality within the protostructure, as moving from aperture to aperture to see each and every group defeats the purpose of having absolute vision on every single group from a single position. We therefore observed existing elements where the user is in direct relation with the object. Increasing the scale still allows for such an interrelation between two distinct structures.

    Image Mon Mar 21 2016 03:56:10 GMT+0100 (W. Europe Standard Time)

The main goal was to make the previously designed space(s) infinitely smaller until it is based off a single point instead of a surface area. Of course, a secondary goal was set to reduce the amount of apertures but still be able to aim at (in the best case) all of the group areas.

Of course, absolute vision of each and every group, via a simple central object isn't enough. To maintain such a vision, one would need to cut whole cones out of the protostructure (which is evidentally not possible tectonically). Along with the "booled out" protostructure and the vision modifiers of the object, one gets the intended method of viewing.
