• ROOM 2 - CENTRALITY

Par Niels Galitch, Yekan Deli, 07/03/16

With the themes that we defined the previous week we searched for an arrangement that would induce the desired atmosphere. This was achieved by studying various plans and cuts to find a good disposition.

We transformed our first fragment to better understand the area with which we were working.

Once we had found a disposition that worked with our themes, we placed them in our protostructure drawings to make sure of their position.

We came to the realization that the first fragment was not adapted for the project. We also built a model of the generated space to help us build the wooden mockup.

  • ROOM - 1 : Inducing contrasts

Par Niels Galitch, Yekan Deli, 29/02/16

Plans and elevation allowed us to understand and explain our space. Based on our works on lapisblog.epfl.ch, we keeped on idea the continuation of our previous concepts to create our unique space.

Point of vue, apertures and intimacy were our interest for this project.

Plan of the protostructure and the project inside it:

Testings about the confrontation of our two previous projects:

Space which integrates the contrast between two spaces and the intimacy:

    Image Mon Feb 29 2016 12:47:40 GMT+0100

The main interest of this project is to create a space which contrasts with our previous works. It deals with the outcome of a course while integrating the feeling of intimacy. The passage between the two spaces creates a direct change of the atmosphere since it opens on a large space in which the programmes are different.

Study of the environment and neighbouring columns. My facade being in a quite dense area of the situation model it was necessary to study how the columns next to me were going to implant themselves, especially since my column is combined with an other one.

By adding these planes I transformed the space between two plasters into a "dead-end". The only gateway is now my super element. As you walk into the space you slowly discover this passage and what lays behind it, during this moment, you get three types of emotions, curiosity, impatience, surprise.

  • Planes

    Par Niels Galitch, 23/11/15

    Week 2

I drew some perspectives of my situation to show how the space can be discovered as you advance inside the dead end. The effect being that you only see a part of the step when you are far away and are intrigued to see what is going on behind this angle and the discover a new passage way.

    Image Mon Nov 23 2015 07:51:48 GMT+0100 (CET)

I produced a plaster of my facade at a 1/33 scale based on the previous drawings and also included my potential planes in it.
