• Planes, first exercise

Par Weber Corentin Raphael Nathan, 25/11/16

The point of this first exercise was to analyse the void of a painting and then cast it.

Interior with an Oven, Vilhelm Hammershoi, 1909

This painting shows a lady in movement aiming to go through the door. On the right side of the first room, we see an oven, so the first room may be the kitchen of the house. For the second room, I chosed that it would be a corridor that allows to go to the shiny room or, on the right,  go to a more intimate space, as a sleeping room or something like this.

To represent the void we had to make a reverse perspective of the painting and imagine how the rooms could be, for the mould we had to make one, without glue that could be reusable. All this work should be made in scale 1:20

    The reverse perspective:

  • The Strata of the City

    Par Ogbonna Gabriel Ihechimnemerem, 20/10/16

The first exercise of the autumn semester was about learning what a "strata" was and do a little sketch about it. We can define it by the moment when the architecture changes or adapt itself, it can be a bank, a stair case or the balcony of a building. It made us familiar with the observation of the site and learning to know it. Some sketches can help you understand what we noticed.

the elevator on the Bel-Air place can be an exemple

This first exercice help us finding were the architecture was changing in the city of Lausanne, more precisely in our area of work. Here eight draws relating this observation, that we use to call "strata".
