• Planes, Final presentation

Par Weber Corentin Raphael Nathan, 20/12/16

For the last proposal, we had to join some projects of the studio and make them as one big stable protostrucutre. For achieving this we decided to create a path through our four protostrucutres and add some diagonnals that keep our big project straight and stable. This path link the differents stratas of our big protoctructure.

    Individual part:

    The reversed perpective:

My reversed perspective is the base of my project, as it shows how the space in the painting is built, and helped me to create its spatial atmosphere.

For the last phase, I developped my project on two side, firstly, I redesigned the envelope of my wall to make it more dense so the wall is more filtrating the view. Also the new design is more symetric than the last one so we only see one pattern that is hidding the inside of the wall.

Drawing of the front view of the wall

Secondly, I thought about wich atmosphere should the inside of my wall give. What I wanted to do is to make a dense passage through my wall with many differents way of passing.

This passage would also give the idea of just wanting to pass through the wall to reach an other space, because when you see the wall (front view)  you can see a bit of what happen behind it but when you're in the wall the view is sometimes blocked so you try some path to get out of it.

Also, some of the sticks that make the paths inside the wall are cutted at 1m50 of the ground, those sticks blocks the view but you can still pass below them.

  • Planes, third proposal

Par Weber Corentin Raphael Nathan, 20/12/16

For my third proposal, I focused myself on the spacial atmosphere that is created in my painting's second room. A dark room that you jut want to pass through to reach the last and shiny room.

    The painting:

    Image Tue Dec 20 2016 00:15:12 GMT+0100 (Paris, Madrid)

So I took my second proposal (the wall that let you see what happen after but doesn't allow you to go through) and i expanded it to create the space space that i wanted to work on. So the spatial atmosphere of the second room is created when you pass through the wall.

For my second proposal, I focused on the structural form of my first proposal and tried to adjust it better to the protostructure.

I chosed a pattern that could climb over the wood of the protostructure.

  • Planes, second exercise

For the next exercise we had to use the same painting and perspective:

The second exercise was to make a protostructure and choose two planes of our painting.

After our choice we should imagine how those two planes could interract with the protosctructure. On plane should be tectonic (a volume but not a uniform plane) and the other plan should be stereotomic (more like a concrete wall or something like it). And we had also to remake the cast of the void in scale 1:132.

    The cast:

    Image Fri Nov 25 2016 13:51:35 GMT+0100 (Paris, Madrid)

I choose the ground as the stereotomic plane and the wall with the door as a tectonic plane. What i wanted to do is to link the first two spaces of the painting.

I chose first the plane of the ground to make a base where we could circulate. This plane should be really strong to support the weight of some people walking.

    View on the stereotomic plane

The second plane, the tectonic one, is the main way of linking the two rooms, by making a designed wall I tried to

make a structure that doesn't allow people to go through it but also doesn't block the view through the different spaces.

  • Planes, first exercise

Par Weber Corentin Raphael Nathan, 25/11/16

The point of this first exercise was to analyse the void of a painting and then cast it.

Interior with an Oven, Vilhelm Hammershoi, 1909

This painting shows a lady in movement aiming to go through the door. On the right side of the first room, we see an oven, so the first room may be the kitchen of the house. For the second room, I chosed that it would be a corridor that allows to go to the shiny room or, on the right,  go to a more intimate space, as a sleeping room or something like this.

To represent the void we had to make a reverse perspective of the painting and imagine how the rooms could be, for the mould we had to make one, without glue that could be reusable. All this work should be made in scale 1:20
