A mother's duty Pieter de Hooch

The question of the previous exercice was how depht is this passage? Here the questions are :

Where do it leads?  What is on the other side?

    First draft:

The proposition is inspired by the scenario model. I completed an existant corner to create three narrow passages. The narrowness and the drastic turns create a space similar to a labyrinth.

Where do it leads?                                                                       A slope which invite to conturn the corner

The geometry of the corner permits corridors hidden from each other except on the angle. From this point of view, we can see all the faces of the corridors.

From the angle, the incline of the ground grows the perspective and pushes backwards which intensify the imposance of the high frontal walls.

    Only surfaces

Cardboard with a different colour on each face

To focus on the duality between a side and the other, I reduced the thickness of the walls to the minimum to have like pure surfaces forming the limit.

The contrast and duality beetween the inside and the outside of the shelter is materialised by the bi-coloured cardboard.

    Additional interpretation

    Image Sat Dec 24 2016 16:16:39 GMT+0100 (Europe de l’Ouest)

The project is a neat separation of two sides.

On one side we have two passages with cold walls and open to a large area.

    a public space

On the other side we have warm walls and the structure delimiting close locations.

    a private space

  • About depth

Par fleury yan, silva gabriel, 28/11/16

The work is about recreating the space of a picture. Here, a canvas by Peter de Hooch nammed "A mother's duty".

First step, the reconstitution of the orthogonal projections from the perspective.

First, we casted is a simple representation of the space based on the drawing.

We worked about depth from Peter de Hooch's point of view:

Interested by the spaces which we cannot see, we extruded it by the direction of the point of view and experimented differents dimensions. In the third mold the spaces tighten in fonction of the depth like in a perceptive view.

The element is situated along the billboard which stands in front of the fnac entrance. This billboard designed like a tower permited us to link two separated analysis of each level during "Measures" phase. Now the tower is physically used to install an element which brings an acces from the "Fnac level" to the "Bel-Air level".
