The goal of my project was to manipulate the perception of space and the level of the horizon, as seen by the eye while the body rises (in this case, by ascending a stair). Each time the participant ascends, the top of the wall appears to descend in relation; giving an impression of the body rising with accelerated rapidity. The second function of this steadily decreasing wall was to open up the horizon to space and light at the top of the ascent, in contrast to the heavier enclosure of the wall at the base. In this way, the promise of light guides the body to the top of the stair.
