(Valeriu Butulescu, Aphorismes)
MEASURES, Evian, October 2019
Following the track of our colleagues who accomplished the 2018/2019 Becoming Leman project, our task was to work on the project foundations, at the same time the most prominent element of any structure but also the one we tend to forget about. Considering our case for instance, the foundations were indeed the unique part not referenced beforehand. The first stage was thus to dig up one foundation per pair in order to study it. The obviousness emerging after a few instants of digging with a shovel was that, the base being suddenly overdrawn, the structure was moving, losing its initial stability.

MEASURES, process on site (Evian)
"My feet are spreading the topsoil around and my hands are gathering leaves until the intensity of the rain decreases."
ubiquity of humidity, runoff of rain, course of the water, measuring meticulously every single curvature, mixing of water, soil & plaster, watching ones-selves backs by shielding the moulding, discovering the final result in the sunlight
MEASURES, process in studio

MEASURES, a recycling strategy
Leftover of our pathway in Evian : a large quantity of wooden sticks and a bunch of unstructured holes, once the foundations dug up.
Hence, a consistent scenario of destruction would be to recycle the wooden sticks as we usually use trees for : making paper or wood chips. Bearing in mind we still need to fill the holes of the digging, making wood chips out of the sticks seems to remain the best recycling option, thereby creating a clean and neat site.
