The dock a place where one can be alone or with others. It’s the closest place to the water in the whole House. The idea is therefore to create a natural and pleasant space.

Consisting of a wooden floor and brick stairs, it reflects the ground’s topography using these warm materials. The brick stairs creates spaces for circulation between the different levels and can be used for rest, notably thanks to the shade provided by the foliage of the tree that the staircase surrounds. The different reliefs create convivial spaces, such as the Italian concave squares by Sébastien Grosset bringing people together. They also create intimate spaces without cutting themselves off from the surrounding atmosphere. The reliefs of the bricks also allow plants to settle on the dock, thus creating a garden and accentuating the natural and pleasant aspect of this part of the House.

Added to the wooden floor and the brick staircase, against the exterior wall of the House, closest to the parking area, is a wall of blackberries. The blackberries will hang on a grid made entirely of wood to create a plant wall and therefore make this grid disappear. This additional vegetation accentuates the cocoon that this dock creates and softens the bricks.  This wall makes the dock private and intimate. The bricks, immersed in greenery, are now devoid of visual heaviness and of idea of industry. On the contrary, made of clay, they connect the local nature and the House. In addition, the extended staircase to the ground allows the dock floor and its overhang to be maintained.

The environment changes with the seasons and each of them makes us discover a facet of the dock. For example, in spring the water rises to the bottom of the dock while in autumn, the orange color of the leaves comes to match that of the bricks. It is for all these reasons that the pontoon is a place to bring a smooth transition between nature and the rest of the House.
