WEEK 4: FINAL MODEL + CONCEPTS
***
as you walk on the platform behind that wall you can hear the water but can't see it although near you, this wall is acting like a barrier.
then you finally enter the space through this small entrance. bending down at first in order to go in, you feel a colder temperature created by the roof over you head. the space is getting bigger the closer you get to the river. an attraction is created so you advance. then you arrived at those bleacher and see the water streaming under you.
as you sit, you decide to put your feet in the water. the temperature is nice for a swim
*JUMP*
as you swim the flow of the river is pulling you to the stairs. time to go back to the platform. you decide to lay where the sun is to dry.
ROOMS : PROJECT CONCEPTS AND IDEAS
i created a space made of 4 plans, a ROOM over the course of this phase that convey a link, an access to the water. those 4 plans plays singular different role although constituting one space.
the oblique plan is used as a ground and helped me create a correlation between my space and the environment around it. it also allowed me to play with different stairs conditions because i wanted to convey two distinct ways to the water, one in : the bleacher, one out: the stairs
we were told to choose a time frame for the use of our project. mine is around midday to mid afternoon. therefore i placed my horizontal plan so that a certain part the room is covered by shadow during that moment.
the tilted vertical plan defines a more intimate space in my room made for ones who wants to isolate himself from the others. the protostructure establish a threshold, an entrance to this more intimate part
MATERIALITY
after considering our plans as only frames when starting making our models, the question of materiality came during this last week.
for my project i decided to play with the materiality of my vertical plans in order to enforce the different part of my rooms
from the outside the visible walls are made of plaster
from the point of view in the more private and personal space, the unity of material reinforce the sense of intimacy
WEEK 3: REDEFINING THE PURPOSE OF MY ROOM
experiencing the oblique plan in the Rolex in order to find a good slope for my project
throughout the course of this third week, i reevaluate the function of my room although trying to keep the essence of my project which is the relationship it has with the water. therefore after a discussion with studio directors i made the choice to modify my project in the interest of developing a space which would serve as an access to the water.
we were also told to considerer our plans as frames to see how we could strengthen the protostructure by adding branch in our plans. with this in mind i began making my model in 1:10
