as you walk on the platform behind that wall you can hear the water but can't see it although near you, this wall is acting like a barrier.

then you finally enter the space through this small entrance. bending down at first in order to go in,   you feel a colder temperature created by the roof over you head. the space is getting bigger the closer you get to the river. an attraction is created so you advance. then you arrived at those bleacher and see the water streaming under you.

as you sit, you decide to put your feet in the water. the temperature is nice for a swim

        *JUMP*

as you swim the flow of the river is pulling you to the stairs. time to go back to the platform. you decide to lay where the sun is to dry.

ROOMS : PROJECT CONCEPTS AND IDEAS

i created a space made of 4 plans, a ROOM over the course of this phase that convey a link, an access to the water. those 4 plans plays singular different role although constituting one space.

        Image Sun Mar 15 2020 14:15:31 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)                 Image Sun Mar 15 2020 14:15:31 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)

the oblique plan  is used as a ground and helped me create a correlation between my space and the environment        around it. it also allowed me to play with different stairs conditions because i wanted to convey two distinct ways to the     water, one in : the bleacher, one out: the stairs

we were told to choose a time frame for the use of our project. mine is around midday to mid afternoon. therefore i     placed my horizontal plan so that a certain part the room is covered by shadow during that moment.

the tilted vertical plan defines a more intimate space in my room made for ones who wants to isolate himself from     the others. the protostructure establish a threshold, an entrance to this more intimate part

    MATERIALITY

after considering our plans as only frames when starting making our models, the question of materiality came during this     last week.

for my project i decided to play with the materiality of my vertical plans in order to enforce the different part of my rooms

from the outside the visible walls are made of plaster

    Image Sun Mar 15 2020 14:15:31 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)

in the main space both material: plaster and wood are visible

    Image Sun Mar 15 2020 14:15:31 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)

from the point of view in the more private and personal space, the unity of material reinforce the sense of intimacy

WEEK 3: REDEFINING THE PURPOSE OF MY ROOM

    Image Sat Mar 14 2020 12:36:01 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)

experiencing the oblique plan in the Rolex in order to find a good slope for my project

throughout the course of this third week, i reevaluate the function of my room although trying to keep the essence of my project which is the relationship it has with the water. therefore after a discussion with studio directors i made the choice to modify my project in the interest of developing a space which would serve as an access to the water.

we were also told to considerer our plans as frames to see how we could strengthen the protostructure by adding branch in our plans. with this in mind i began making my model in 1:10

WEEK 2: FOCUS ON THE ENTRANCE CONDITION

    Image Fri Mar 06 2020 17:16:45 GMT+0100 (heure normale d’Europe centrale)

for this second week of ROOMS, i rethought my space created by the four plans by moving them in different direction     although trying to keep the same narrative point with the water.

SECOND ITERATION: i also reworked on the way to enter in the space because the first idea was not convincing. my                                     research were made through a study model. i purposefully made a low entrance of 1.65m in height                                     so that when somebody would enter the space he would have to bend down to incite him to sit and                                     he could stand up gradually as he goes toward the water

WEEK 1: RESEARCH THROUGH THE LINES

FIND A WAY WITH FOUR PLANS (3m x 3m) TO GENERATE A SPACE WITHIN THE PROTOSTRUCTURE

perspective drawing + research through sketches and mockups

    ***

during the first week of the ROOMS phase, our main focus was to conceive an interior space with an certain entrance condition.

in order to do so, we mainly used the drawings as a starting point to imagine the space and start thinking how one's body would interact within these space

FIRST ITERATION: my focal point for my space was the environment around it more specifically the Rhône. so using this                                     narrative as a starting point i developed a space which purpose is to sit and gaze at the water
